BabyRead® Outreach Program

We have a wide-ranging public awareness program with broad community support

  • We respond to calls and emails from our website and referrals

  • We distribute hundreds of BabyRead bookmarks to over 50 local establishments — that’s over 17,000 bookmarks!

  • We are interviewed on local radio stations bimonthly

  • We participate in the Belk Charity Sales

  • We recruit new families through the Oconee County 4K sign ups, at Back to School and other elementary school events

  • We partner with three pediatric organizations — part of the Reach Out and Read (ROR) Carolinas network of pediatricians

  • We provide books & age-appropriate magazines to Early Head Start/Head StartWe provide gift-wrapped books to each new mom at Oconee County Memorial Hospital (OMH) and soon will be making presentations/answering questions at pre-natal classes and for doctors & nurses working in maternity and delivery at OMH

  • We are expanding our outreach to several day care centers & low income housing projects
